91: 10 lessons from ONE month on holidays

I am officially BACK - one month in France and the podcast is back in action!

You might have seen that I was still active online while I was away on holidays, but I will explain in this episode a key thing that helped me be active and still VERY present with my break.

The last 4.5 weeks in France have been pure BLISS! From connecting with a client in Marseille, hosting my first ever France retreat to spending time with family and friends in different cities (both north and south of France) - it was everything I needed to kick into a new gear now I am in my Australian home.

But there were some beautiful lessons I learnt that I know will help your business, let me dive into them!

Welcome to a new episode of the essential sheep podcast. We are episode 91 And as I am just back from my four and a half weeks of traveling in France, which you may have witnessed in my content on Instagram, I had lots of fun. And if you're on my email list, you may have heard me sharing my 10 top lessons learned during this trip in France and during this four and a half weeks of holiday. Some of you reached out and you're asked me to do a podcast about this. So here I am recording a podcast about what are the key things that helped me have a break our four and a half weeks of real break from the business and enjoying a trip of reconnection with my family and my friends in France. So before I get started before I share the 10 lessons, and some nuggets of gold and all of that. I just want to invite you to check the link in the show notes. As right now I am enrolling for my intuitive selling course which is a brand new course that will run live from the 15th of August and it will be a five weeks course to deep dive on how to sell in a way that is not sleazy that is authentic, that is easy. And that is really graceful and aligned with your own intuition and energy are some things that some of you asked me to teach for the past two years. And here I am sharing this now. So from the 15th of August, we started this journey. We already have 1000s of spots gone so make sure to take your spot if you feel called to learn with me how to sell in a different way. So let's get into the 10 lessons because the first one and you wouldn't be surprised if you listen to this podcast often that I will say that the first lessons learned and the first thing that I always recommend for anyone going on holiday is planning. Planning is key. Learning is Queen planning is God as well whether you're going away for four and a half weeks or just a week or just three days, or just a day in your business. I think a break is essential. Yet if you don't plan it from the get go and if you heard me talking about quarterly planning about yearly planning, I always plan my break first. Why is that? Because when you plan your break first in your planning of the year planning of the quarter planning of the month planning of the week, then you are not overwhelmed. So I really plan for this break. I really plan with my team what needed to be done and all of that. So it was very clear. What will get done while I was away what will not get done. What will be on pose what will be the focus for them to work on so planning is key. And then I've already mentioned a bit the second lesson learned which is really important for every one of you is listening to this is the team and the leadership is that you step in when you have a break. I have been an active leader for over 15 years in different firm in strategy consulting in a big firm here in Australia, leading up to 60 members in my team from multidisciplinary background and I know how important it is as a leader as a CEO as a sacred CEO of your business, to have a clearer vision and having those skills of leadership being embedded from the get go in your business so that everything can be handled without you. You are not the blocker for your business to keep going and that's why you may have seen post every day on social media while I was away. I was not the one doing that my team was running this. You may have seen that we launched the book while I was on holiday. I was not doing all the email and all the things that went into the launch campaign of the preorder of the book my team team member where I launched also the free workshop around intuitive selling, which I didn't set up and all of those things. Of course I plan for all of this which is my point one. I briefed my team which is this point, but I stepped into the leadership like letting them run with this. They had enough knowledge expertise, otherwise they wouldn't be in my team. I always make sure that I have in my team people that are really expert in theirs in their domain of expertise, but I'll also make sure that when I have a breaks and not going to burn out so everything is well set up for them to run the business without me. Okay, so that's a second item. First one planning second one team and leadership. The third lesson presents takes work but it is critical being present during the holiday or being present when you take a day off or even if you take just a weekend off. And being present with your family and friends takes work. I'm not telling you that it comes easily. In the first few days of my holiday I really struggled to fully disconnect from work. But then when you are committed to that you get so many ideas from that place of having space being very present, enjoying every step of our trip from the different places we visited in France. From the different people we've got to spend quality time with from the different experiences that we had as a Spa Mini. I was so present that I got so much out of it. I felt it was longer than four and a half weeks. Definitely I missed work which is a point that I will mention after but presence was so critical. So if you take a break, if you take a day off but you're not present, you're on your phone, you're checking your email, you're working, replying to clients and so on. This is not going to work out because then you're not present. So having clear boundaries with your clients with your team were really help you be present. As I said it takes work but it is critical. The force elements, which is really essential to like all of them anyway, is planned for your cash flow.

Laetitia Andrac  7:10
Anything in your business that you're doing right now. If you don't plan for your cashflow, you will be bankrupt. And unfortunately we see a lot of businesses going down right now and just current context of recession of inflation. Like it's really something that every business owner is feeling right now. And there is data backing this about 50 to 68. Small and Medium Businesses are failing to slow down right now. So if you're one of those know that you're not the only one and that's where the cash flow, having cash flow plan in advance and knowing you have the cash in the bank, even if you're not making any revenue will help you feel well during your holiday and not stress out about the dollar that are maybe not coming your way as much as usual. But you plan for it. And what's beautiful is I planned my cash flow. I was not you know really thinking that I would get much sales in and so on but actually I got a lot. So I was so grateful for everyone who invested in my program. In my upcoming courses in my membership and all those kinds of things when I was on holiday, but I was not expecting it. I just planned for my cash flow for slow months slow months of July as low end of month of June when I was away, but I knew I was safe and this is from that place of abundance. When you feel the money there is more to go around which is something I covered in the previous episode around money and it detects that lots come in, but you need to plan for your cash flow before going on holiday. Otherwise you will not enjoy your holiday you will be stressed about money and I don't want that to happen because of course when you're a business owner, even though we speak about evergreen about passive income, yes, I have ever been in passive income in my business. But it's not all evergreen. It's not all passive. When I run a retreat I make profit straightaway and I have cash flow coming in when I'm on holiday. I'm potentially not doing that as much. So then the fifths elements of fifths lesson learned and those lessons are lessons learned from my holiday, but I'm sharing them with you because they are actually applicable in any stage of your business. So next one is connection to self this is so important to keep your rituals when you're away. I know when you're traveling you have you know less space potentially because you want to really enjoy the time with your friends and family. But when you travel actually giving priority to ritual to yourself, care to yourself to connection to yourself is really powerful because you can drop them when you're traveling but actually this helps you stay grounded. This helped me stay grounded. This really helped me connect back to myself. What do I really want to do today? How do I digest the conversation I may have had with some friends and family during the holiday. How do I you know process all the beautiful things that I saw during the day my rituals, my journaling, pulling cards, having doing breath work, all of those kinds of things were with me during the whole time of my holiday. I always travel with my journals. It's it's it brings like a lot of shout in my friends and family. But this is something I always do. I always bring that in an Oracle deck, at least one article that comes with me all the time. So really connection to self and keeping your ritual even when you're traveling. The sixth lesson learned during this is travel, no need to hustle. You know how I am NT also culture my book like it is all about it, how to trust your intuition and build a thriving business without hustling all of those kinds of thing. And while I was away when I launched my book I was like not gonna do much. You know, I'm just gonna promote it on stories and that's it. The rest is handled by my team. And then without hustling, my book went number one bestseller on Amazon in entrepreneurship number two in motivation. Number three in business leadership, so we made number one in one of the most converted category on Amazon, showing me that really the hustle culture is dead. So stop hustling, stop hustling, no need to hustle. If you do it, you know with presence, Rachel, planning your cash flow, planning your holiday all the elements that I'm sharing in this, it shall happen. So then the seven point momentum is everything. All the work that you put in motion before you go on holiday, all the seeds that you planted. All of that is actually building up momentum. So it's not because you're going on holiday that it will stop the momentum. The momentum can keep going. And this is what happened with me when I was on holiday. One of the first day of my holiday I was sitting in Paris that will remember that on the terrace of my friend advies watching the South Africa with the sunrise and there I received that I was a finalist in many categories for Osmund printer. By the way, if you want to vote for me, when this podcast will be released you will have still a few days to vote for me for the hours mompreneur awards to just DM me on Instagram at essential dodge shift and I'll share with you the link I would truly appreciate it because I'm nominated on top of the judges category I am nominated in six people choices category, which is quite amazing. So this is an important reminder is that momentum builds even when you're away from your computer with a different seeds that you've planted in the past. So trusting that which brings me to a spot which is trust yourself. I trust myself during those holiday. I when I decide to take a break when I decide to have a holiday and you know I'm taking regular or holidays just like usually my holidays are around two or three weeks. This is my biggest holiday every year in July when I go to France. And this means that you can trust that even if you're not doing anything during that time. Things are happening. Going away as a business owner is all about honoring. It's all about trusting trusting your community trusting your team trusting yourself that you deserve a holiday. All happens in divine timing as I keep saying to my clients to my team and something I will teach in the intuitive selling fours it's about putting in the work but then also trusting that your clients will come in divine timing not everyone is ready for that product to be the first one buying you're always add people who will like to buy after a few people have you know tested it and I said was a pre order of my book. Some people pre ordered straightaway some people are waiting for others to read it and read the review and all that and it's okay you have different titles buyer, but you need to trust yourself you need to trust your community and trust the timing. The ninth learning during this holiday is that I love what I do. Oh my gosh how I'm missed and how good is that to say that how I missed talking to you on the podcast, connecting with my clients. Having in person connection, doing those workshops that I love to run and actually the next quarterly planning in September is going to be gold. It's going to be a full day. So if you're part of the circle, make sure to reserve your spot if you're not yet part of the circle. Join us for this beautiful quarterly planning in September. I had so much idea during this holiday about new offering new things that I'm going to weave into my existing offering. So having time off is always a beautiful way to reflect on what you love in your business. What you love in your life and being in France reminded me how lucky and how grateful I am for the work that I do. When I was a strategy consultant or when I was a general manager in Telstra when I would take this time off four and a half weeks. I would be on my phone way more and I would dread coming back to work. I would not miss a second my opening my laptop or checking my email for as during this holiday. I missed it. I am telling you ideally missed it. I'm so happy to be back and I hope you're happy to listen to this podcast is brand new one after listening to a few rewind episode which I know some of you loved. And then the 10s lesson, the 10 one is I love the life I created. And I hope you do love the life you will create for yourself or you've created for yourself. I was not sad to be back home in Australia and Sydney. I love my time in France. Don't get me wrong. I belong into different places in the world and many other places. And I have a big smile on my face as I'm recording this podcast and I'm sharing those words with you. It is always beautiful to have these posts from my normal life from my day to day life. So then I read it remind myself how beautiful is this one life

Laetitia Andrac  16:38
