78: How to get clients in your business - even through times of recession!

Do you feel the pinch? The recession is real. While you might not feel it, many clients mentioned the difficulty to get more clients in the current context.


But here is the thing. When we focus on what we do have, when we focus on delivering the results to the people we are serving, the recession won’t have an impact on your business. 


You’ll flourish. I have seen it with myself and other businesses I have been supporting during this time. This shift in the economy is an opportunity to show your brilliance, your ethics and step into your unique impact with your products, services or software.

The recession is inflation. All of that is impacting your business and you may find it harder to get clients because people are reprioritizing their expenses as opposed to flooding is going higher and all of that, but you can escape this by focusing on one thing, which is delivering results to your clients. And I know it sounds very simple but it is what is going to take your business from a quick business that is growing for a few weeks for a few moms for a few year to be a long standing business that will stay and be sustainable in the long term. Of course when I say that it's also built on the six foundations, which I shared in my acronyms a dreams acronym, and which is a podcast that I recorded episode 76 and I will put the link in the show notes below so you can go and listen to this one. But together the six strong foundation of dreams and getting your clients results will help you navigate through the ebbs and flow of the microeconomics. And I have studied micro economics for those of you who don't know that about me and micro economics. So I am telling you getting your clients result is what's gonna take you to finding more clients and to growing your business. And we know how a business without clients is not a business. Right? So what is your statement around getting your clients result? My statement is I 100% of my clients to grow their business with strong foundation, alignment with their energy so that they earn more they have more impact without burning out. That's my statement. And when I was in strategy consulting, we would have success fee to measure if we were delivering on what we said we would deliver. And I am actually having success fee for my services for my multiple eight figure clients. And above those wild multiple eight figure and above so as it started to scale up, I have successfully because then we can really measure and put success fee in place which are often on top of my fees. But why getting your clients results is the best way to attract new business to grow your business to attract new clients. Let me take you through some key elements. You know I love a structure and I will flow in between the structure. first element is it is about reputation. We always say reputation is everything Your reputation precedes you. So if you're getting your clients results, then they're more likely to recommend your services, your products, your software to other if you look at the service or product or the software that you recommend to other people, they are the one that achieved the desired results that you the desires results that you had in mind when you wrote them. I always recommend Canva to my clients. I love Canva it is so good. I had Canva to create design although it is meeting my desired results. So now I recommend it to my clients without even making any money out of it right it's just I recommend something that I love. That is really received by a great reputation. So creating a positive reputation in your business will lead to increased word of mouth referrals and we know word of mouth is the most ancient, yet powerful way to grow your business and more clients in the long run. When it comes to attracting new clients, they don't know you. What do you think they're gonna look at? They're gonna ask someone else will work with you what is your reputation? It is one of the most critical factor. So that's why I focus lots of my time, lots of my energy in serving the clients that I am serving currently, and making sure I help them achieve the results that we said we would work on. Because I know that by delivering those key results to them, they are more likely to work with me again. I have a lot of returning clients, a lot of them they work with me. Then we have an an integration break as I call it. They go on their own, and then maybe six months later or a year later like it's happening right now. I have a big startup coming back to me a year later. They come back to me for me to help them in the next phase of growth. This is happening because I have a great reputation in what I do. So if you're looking for a shortcut in business, there is no shortcut. reputation is built over years, over time over serving the clients that you have. And if you're listening to this and you're new to business and you don't have any clients yet, I am telling you you can start with your beta tester with the first product that you're sending your minimum viable product if you're software and gathering feedback from them, knowing that you really care about how they're experiencing your product and what result is engaging. So this is the first thing reputation. The second element to that why getting results to your client is the best way to attract new business. It's not only by building reputation, it's also by building and sharing proof of success. And it is really hard right to do that because you feel bad sharing the success because you feel like oh my gosh I'm sure off and all that yet. If you don't say what you do, and if you don't share potential clients example of how you've helped them with your product with your services with your software, if you don't share that no one can know. But actually when you share those testimonials when you share those case studies, it makes it more tangible and credible. It is providing evidence to someone else's that it is possible for them to achieve the same level of results. So recently, if you're following me on Instagram, if you're not just go ahead and follow me at essential dodge shift. I have started putting together case studies, very structured case study. What was the problem? What did we do? What was the outcome? You can be inspired by this? Go ahead. It's my treat and if you do that, then it's easier for anyone else to understand the impact that your product or services your software is having on someone else. Because you demonstrate have you've helped previous clients achieve their goals. You've established this credibility with potential new clients that are watching right now and the like. Is your really wishes or cheese or is she another guru? You know, the one that I call out is yet another business guru on with a marketing guru and all that. No, I am not in this are the proof proof of success. And again, if we go back to my time when I was in strategy consulting, we would gather those case study we will build a case study file. Of course I always ask for permission. Very important for my clients to share those case study and actually is our the one writing it. The riders case study and they agree for us to create a beautiful design for it to be shown on our social media. Because it is a win win win and understand it is a win for them in terms of brand awareness. It is a win for me and my business because people see what we can do. And it is a win for anyone watching this. Because even if they don't buy our services or even if they don't join any courses, any membership mastermind retreat, any offerings that we have within essential shift, it will impact them and show them what's possible. It will extend them in a way. Last but not least, why getting clients result is the best way to attract new business. We spoke about reputation. We spoke about proof of success. Now let's speak about it build trust.

By focusing on delivering results to your client. You build trust with those existing clients. And trust is a crucial factor if you want to build long term partnerships with those clients, which is one of my goal. I love to work with my clients in the long term. I love for them to be part of my community to come back to invite me to be a guest in their retreat as a speaker to you know, hire me again hire my team again. And then they are more likely also to recommend me to their own community. So it build trust when you deliver results. People trust you and that's why again, I am delivering world class qualities and results to my clients. When you sign with me. I am putting so much energy behind your own success because your success is my success. And it's showing everyone in the community what success can look like. So building trust is important for long term business building and you will know that if you looked at the long term standing businesses and if you're here for the long run, which is what I am committed to, then you will know that you cannot bypass a trust factor. You cannot bypass it. And then the last elements that I wanted to cover here of why it is essential to get your clients results is when you give them the results. What's happening is you're building positive reputation which we've covered as a first point, you establish credibility, which we covered with proof of success. You build trust, and then you're and you're ensuring that your client is satisfied which is the last point and a client is satisfied. Only if you are clear about the expectations from the get go. So it's the last elements I want to leave you with. Unfortunately, a lot of people are claiming things. And I've mentioned ads that are non ethical in marketing. They're claiming you a 50k Man's by working with them for three months. They're claiming you that by using this cream you'll be 10 Years Younger they'll telling you that by using this software, you won't have any problem whatsoever with this and this and that. Those claim you need to make sure that it is really backed by data and results. setting clear expectations is essential so that people can measure the success. And that's why I'm always saying and I'm always using the example of when I was working for Chanel for bourgeois for big brand in cosmetics, or when I was working in strategy consulting consulting of a different firm or when I was working for Telstra as a general manager, we would not make claim in our marketing unless it is backed up because when you set clear expectation with your clients and you will never hear me guaranteeing for you that you will reach 100k months when working with me. You may it happened in the past. But I am never going to have you join a container using that claim. For me. It's not ethical marketing. And I have covered that in the podcast around what I wish to see in the business consulting business coaching industry in 2023. Because when you are clear about the expectation with your client from the outset, then you align on the same goal and you work together towards the same goal. And then it's really clear about what you will do, what they will do, what you will not do what will be the expected outcome. And by doing this everyone is on the same page. There is no like, you know, Blackspot or hidden thing and and by clear expectation. It also helps preventing misunderstanding and you ensure then that they're satisfied with what you deliver. And this is what I said on the introduction call of the accelerator which I did on Monday. I told all of the beautiful woman who committed to these containers this eight week accelerated container to set strong foundation in their business that I am committed to show up every week for them during the live call on the Voxer. They have all the content within the portal to watch the video to have the spreadsheets a template and all that but I need them to watch the content to do the work to show up for the session. Because what I've seen in my alumni is the client will get the best results are the ones who are committed to doing the work. Doing the work is essential in my container. So I manage the expectations that way and my terms and conditions in my contracts. All of that is very clearly stated. So if you want to make sure that you can ensure client satisfaction, you need to be clear about the expectation upfront. All of these factors that I've covered here so let me summarize it for you. The first one reputation reputation is everything. Proof of success getting testimonial getting case study building the proof of success, building trust with your current clients for long term partnership and for them to refer you and setting clear expectations. Yet a lot of people don't do that, or they do it unethically are essential for you to get more client by getting them results. They will build a long term relationship with you and are more likely to recommend you so I hope this podcast helped you to navigate through I knows is difficult recessions is difficult situations that we're in but I am telling you I am not feeling it because I am delivering results.
